Rule 32(G), Alabama Rules of Judicial Administration, provides
that the Administrative Director of Courts ". . . shall, at least once
every four years, review the child support guidelines and the schedule of basic
child support obligations, to ensure that their application results in
appropriate child support determinations."
During the latest review of the Guidelines, an agreement was entered between the Alabama
Administrative Office of Courts and the Center for Policy Research, a Colorado company, to provide, among other things, a
written report updating the Schedule of Basic Child Support Obligations as well as written briefs on the issues of credit
for other children, health insurance, and the new federal medical child support
requirements.
The Center for Policy Research report and briefs were discussed at the September
21, 2007, meeting of the Alabama Advisory Committee on Child Support Guidelines and
Enforcement. The updated report and briefs will be discussed at the May 16,
2008, meeting of the Committee.
