Overview of Sign Language Interpreter Program

I. ALABAMA’S LAW REGARDING LANGUAGE INTERPRETERS

Alabama’s laws provide for sign language interpreters in every form of State or Municipal court in Alabama. You can find those laws at Ala. Code 1975, §§ 12-21-130 et seq.

The Alabama Registry for Interpreters for the Deaf (ALRID) is responsible for certification and fee standards for sign language interpreters. ALRID provides AOC with a Registry of qualified interpreters, located at "List of Interpreters for the Deaf."

If you have any questions about the Alabama Sign Language Interpreter Program, contact the Alabama Registry for Sign Language Interpreters.
