It allows Attorneys who are registered with AlaFile to electronically receive notice of opposing counsel’s efiled documents and Orders entered by the Judge on their cases. AlaFile is available in all Civil Divisions (SM, CV, DR, CS, and DV) and is online in all 67 Counties for Phase 1 - Motions Menu and all Counties are online to file in Phase 2 - Complaints, Discovery, and Miscellaneous Menu with a few exceptions. • eCitations (http://esearch.alacourt.gov )
      • Overview: The Alabama statewide electronic citation project, initiated in 2002 with funding from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, involves administering traffic citations electronically with a laptop-based system. It has grown rapidly and now includes the entire Alabama Department of Public Safety (State Troopers) and has recently included many local police agencies to include Sheriff Offices and Municipal Police Officers across the State of Alabama. In 2006, legislation was passed to eliminate the requirement for the defendant's signature on the ticket, and to permit biometric authentication of the Officer and Magistrate for the purpose of swearing the ticket via a touch - screen Kiosk located in each Circuit Clerks Office across the State. It is no longer necessary to produce a paper ticket at all. The defendant receives a receipt-sized 'notice to appear' with the ticket number and the court date information at the scene. The Officer electronically uploads the ticket to the eCitation server where it is available to be sworn in via a biometric based authentication process. Once sworn, the ticket enters the Clerk's Case Management system (SJIS) where it receives a unique court case number.
